Chris Stone Band Kicks Off the JCB NeighborFEST Season
Columbus, IN. The Columbus Area Arts Council's first JCB NeighborFEST concert of the season features the Chris Stone Band on Thursday, June 7 from 5:30 to 7:30pm on Washington between 3rd and 4th Streets. The concerts are free.
After years of performing in touring bands all over the country, singing for radio and television commercials and numerous Bob & Tom CD projects, and supplying background vocals to some of the regions finest artists such as Healing Sixes and emerging country artist Jason Sturgeon, this powerful performer decided it was time to write and record her first solo CD, "Leftover Grooves."
The CD, which was produced by Doug Henthorn of Healing Sixes, contains a mixture of rock, blues and soul originals written by Stone and Henthorn and showcases Stone's powerful, yet polished vocal prowess. The single "Comin' Back" has been nominated in the top 25 New & Notable at Indie Music and was also chosen for the compilation album "Music for Memory" with proceeds going to the Alzheimer's Association.
The JCB NeighborFEST season continues on Thursday, July 5 with the Gordon Bonham Band; August 2 with Parrots of the Caribbean, a Jimmy Buffet tribute band; Naptown Boogie wraps up the season on September 6.
"Our programming director made a concerted effort this year to bring some new talent to Columbus," said Donna Stouder, marketing director of the Arts Council. "Three of the bands have not performed in Columbus and they were chosen because they offer a variety of musical styles. Of course, Gordon Bonham has played many times in Columbus and is always welcome to perform for his fans in the community."
Food and beverages including beer and wine are available for purchase at all the concerts. Bring your lawn chairs, your family and friends, and welcome Chris Stone for her premier performance on the Columbus stage.
